News: Mountain Rescue. Sharing experiences IKAR / CISA 2010

The 62 th annual meeting of IKAR / CISA was held in the mountains of Visoko Tatry , Slovakia, during the autumn of last year, bringing together a number of mountain rescue teams in all European countries, USA and Japan. The purpose of the meeting was to share and discuss techniques, equipment and experiences in order to improve efficiency and safety during mountain rescue operations.

During this meeting two days of field training, is proposed to simulate the rescue following situations:

-chairlift evacuation, rescue teams from different countries were demonstrating their techniques and equipment they use.

-Evacuation of a paraglider caught between two trees: Rescue Slovak demonstrated rescue techniques.

-
a gondola evacuation helicopter support: Teams from different countries performed the rescue with a helicopter.

-Evacuation of a cave (confined): Made by the rescue team Slovak Belianska caving in the caves.

rescue teams from various countries participated in several conferences, during which they shared their problems and experience of their environment.

Other topics discussed during this meeting were:

-Major accidents in avalanches during the period 2009/10.

-Off
partial and temporary avalanche beacons (ARBA) for large groups after an avalanche search where they have disappeared, other options and a new strategy for the future.

Preview -Congress of avalanches in Canada in March 2011 (with support from ICAR).

-data collection options after an avalanche and crashes through a website of ICAR.

-Classification or recommendation by the ICAR on rescue blades (For example, categories: touring kit, light rescue equipment, heavy rescue equipment, etc.).

-Registration nationality avalanche victims.

The next meeting will be held in Sweden in the town of Son, 18 to October 23, 2011.
