astronomers published the most detailed map of the universe

With over a billion pixels, the Sloan Digital Sky Survey map is the most detailed view of our universe that we've ever seen.

Astronomers from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey have been published previously unpublished portions of a detailed image of our universe. With over a billion pixels, this image has such resolution to be appreciated in its full splendor and size would require more than half a million HDTVs to unfold. But this historic photo was not captured in the overnight but it represents the consummation of a decade to scan the sky and hundreds of hours of assembly of this crazy puzzle.

The predecessor of this great image had more than 50 years and had been achieved by the Palomar Sky Survey. This image was used by the astronomers until a couple of days. The sky map coined by Sloan Digital Sky Survey was achieved thanks to a 138-megapixel camera mounted on a 2.5-meter telescope that is mounted on the Apache Point Observatory in New Mexico. Through this work we can now throw the vacuum fotogeométrico vault galactic overwhelming visual experience.
